There is a mysterious serenity and peace in the early hours of dawn, just before the sun rises. There are times where we feel tired and we know we need to sleep, but we are just unable to do so. Today was one of those days for me.
Waking up at 4am, I began tossing and turning, becoming more frustrated as I couldn’t sleep. I tried reading some stuff to tire myself out, but to no avail. In the end, I slowly decided to get up, do my prayers and come to work.
As I traveled along the roads, there was no traffic and no sunlight. A certain calmness overshadowed me. The beauty of dawn engulfed me. It was a pleasant feeling of peace in my heart. As I then read the readings for today, I realized what God’s message for me is: Forgiveness. “To be forgiven, you must forgive” were the words of Christ to Peter.
This feeling I experienced at dawn mirrors the tangibility of forgiveness. And forgive we must.
