The Bible: Illustrated

[ 5 ] March 28, AD 2012 |

I’m not one for art, but I love visualizations. Perhaps it’s the scientist in me. Either way, I was pleased when I found an individual illustration for each book of the Bible by Jim LePage. I’ll go ahead and admit that I love pretty much all of them, but a few of my favorites are below:

If you were at Mass today, you may even remember this little bit from the first reading:

Related, Jonathan Ogden has a set of illustrations out, but this time, it’s classy typographic prints of particular Bible verses. Two of my favorites are below:

I highly encourage you to go check these out! You can even order prints of some of these illustrations. These are enough to make me want to take on a few art projects of my own for some of my favorite verses.

Are there any particular illustrations of books of the Bible or of a particular verse that you enjoyed? Share it in the comments! Link it up for others to see.

I like these! It looks like something we would make in Rep class. Maybe I’ll tackle some once my final studio review has passed.

A good solid article on art and its use in illustrating the Bible Allie!

This is a good start in bringing beauty back into the conversation of the new evangelization.

    I love this Thank you!

Thanks for posting on my work! I appreciate the kind words!

Just to clarify, the Typographic Verses site is actually run by the amazing Jonathan Ogden and most of those designs are by him (not sure about the two you included above). My most recent project is actually called “Old & New” and is a collaborative design project based on Biblical passages.
