Bible Study with Jesus

Imagine a Bible study with Jesus. That’s what happened on the road to Emmaus — when Jesus taught Cleopas and his companion all about the Old Testament and how it was all prefiguring Himself:

And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, He interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself.
~ Luke 24:27

It would seem that his knowledge of the scriptures was intriguing enough for the companions to urge Jesus to stay longer:

… but they constrained Him, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent.” So He went in to stay with them.
~ Luke 24:29

But Bible knowledge alone, is nowhere near enough to know Jesus. In order to know Him, we must have a personal encounter with Him, and the most Holy Eucharist is the surest way to meet him, for it is through the Eucharist that the companions recognised Him:

When He was at table with them, He took the bread and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to them. And their eyes were opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished out of their sight.
~ Luke 24:30-31

During this Octave of the Resurrection, we believe and profess that although Christ has died, Christ is also risen. And the Risen Christ always makes Himself present to us daily through the Mass.
