So long until New Years!

But not for too long.  I am going to Trinidad and Tobago for Christmas.  Call it a vacation, call it time off, I call it visiting family.  Some people HAVE to go visit family on a Caribbean island while it is cold back home, I guess that person HAS to be me.  Some people get to stay inside and look at neighborhood ponds iced over, I HAVE to go see coconut trees, sand, and scenery so beautiful it would be have made Aquinas think of six arguments instead of five.  There are no atheists in foxholes or in Trinidad.

Here are some things that I see, visit, eat, drink.

First, I get to see my beautiful wife after a couple days of being apart.

My wife is on the left. Her great friend is next to her.

Second, I get to visit Maracas Bay.  It is one of the best beaches I have seen.  Of course, my only experience is really the Texas Gulf Coast so it doesn’t take much.  Each Sunday in Trinidad also gives me the opportunity to visit St. Finbar’s parish.  I was married there about 11 years ago.

Third, I look forward to eating doubles.

Fourth, I can’t wait to drink a Carib.

If you don’t hear from me after the first, then you may want to visit Trinidad’s rum shop that was opened by that tall American guy.

Blessed Advent and Merry Christmas.
