I love all the different shades of blue here – she’s so serene with her rosary!

Do you line draw these first? One of the rules I was taught in watercolor was to let the colors speak the distinctions and not let the pencil line force itself into view which, if you used a pencil, you have succeeded in doing.

    Ave Maria! Beautiful painting :)

    Sancta Maria ora pro nobis.

Yes, Mr.Gotcher, I did sketch it first, very lightly. :)

(forgive me for taking a somewhat professional interest in your art) What type of watercolor do you use and what brand? I might have to put up some of my own stuff, although it’s architecture, not saints. A little friendly competition, yes?

Oh boy, I just use simple things, Pentel watercolor paints– in a tube. I’d love to see some of your work!

I use Grumbacher from a tube as well. Actually, I did once do a watercolor of St. Cecilia for one of my friends. Let me see if I can pull that one up.

    Sancta Maria mater Dei,
    ora pro nobis peccatoribus,
nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae.
    Amen
